Frequently Asked Questions

With the impending arrival of Baby, Mommy has been getting LOTS of the same questions. On a daily basis! From neighbors, coworkers and even complete strangers! We thought in order to defuse confusion, we'd post a list of Frequently Asked Questions on my blog along with MY answers.
Question #1:
- Is Lilly excited to be a Big Sister?
Answer:
- Do you know me at all? I can not even say my own name yet. I can't count to One, and I don't know what an ABC is. What makes you think I'm old enough to grasp the concept of "Big Sister"?
I am excited though to put Little Sister's stuff in the garbage. And if Little Sister cries too much, I might put her in there too.
*NOTE: Daddy says when people ask Mommy this question, they aren't being literal, what they really want to know is: Mommy, are YOU ready for my little sister? Mommy's answer, "Bring it!"
Question #2:
- Is the baby going to share a room with Lilly?
Answer:
- On what planet is it a good idea to stick a newborn in the same room as an 18-month old toddler? Yes, I understand some people may do this out of necessity and believe me, Mommy sympathizes with those people. We have 2 extra bedrooms and one of them will be for Little Sister. The other one is for all of you who want to come over and stay with us to play with me, play with me, play with me, cook, do the laundry, clean our bathrooms and play with me.
Hey Mommy, how'd those chores get in there?!

Question #3:
- (To Mommy) Are you going to keep working?
Answer:
- Nah! In fact, Mommy thinks now is a good time to cash in her stocks and take a chartered cruise down the Riviera complete with a private chef, massage therapist and personal shopper. What kind of Mommy "works" when she has two kids under two years old? It's a cakewalk! Anyone in our position would tell you that. There's no "work" involved! Or do you mean, work like, "work for the man"? Well if you mean, "keep your job" then yes, Mommy is going to keep her job. Mommy is proud to be a working Mommy, and I'm proud to have a working Mommy. If nothing else, it gives me a much needed break from Mommy and I'm sure Little Sister will agree.

Question #4:
- Do you have everything you need/everything ready for The Baby?
Answer:
- No. Monetary donations may be sent to my attention, Lilly Bean, Louisville, KY. Thank you.

Question #5:
- Do you think you'll have more kids? When?
Answer:
- One at a time people! Mommy can't get up off the couch without almost peeing on herself! Now is not the time to ask her this question! But I will answer for Mommy. We would welcome more children into our family sometime in the future. We don't know when. We'll have to see how things go with Little Sister. Daddy's friends from high school always tell us that Daddy deserves 3 or 4 girls. Daddy must have been a real good, upstanding man to deserve such a blessing and gift. Lucky Daddy already has 1 and 1 more on the way. If you count Mommy and the kitty, both also females, Daddy is already outnumbered 3 to 1 in this house, almost 4 to 1! I'd say Daddy is lucky, indeed!
Final Question:
- You are going to have 2 kids under 2! Did you do that on purpose? Are you crazy?
Answer:
- First of all, thank you for pointing that out, as if Mommy hasn't thought about that every day for the past 7 1/2 months. And if by crazy you mean crazy blessed, yes, we are crazy blessed. And if by on purpose you need Mommy and Daddy to give you a run down on how that happened...well, I'm still little, and I really don't want to know.
We can't WAIT for Little Sister to get here. We are all excited and terrified at the same time. Especially Mommy. But she has nothing to be afraid of, because she's got me, and I can get her through anything.
Love,
Lilly

Work, work, work...

I love to help my Daddy around the house. My Daddy is so handy, he can fix and do ANYTHING! He took all the tree limbs down that fell on and around the house in the February ice storm, he even took that one step further and cut down two of the trees in the backyard all by himself! These were tall trees people! So when Daddy is working on a job that he can use a couple extra little hands, I'm happy to help! This weekend I helped him put the baby's furniture together!
Mommy says in some parts of the world there are people who can actually afford to buy furniture that comes preassembled. Can you imagine the riches of those people? I can't. We assemble our own furniture. Daddy says you get more out of it this way because it feels like you actually did something. Mommy says swiping your credit card to spring for assembled furniture IS like doing something but usually Daddy wins these battles and we buy furniture in pieces and Daddy gets to put them together. Sometimes more than once!
Here are some step by step pictures of our project. I was responsible for organizing and handing Daddy the appropriate screws. I also helped him line things up straight.

First, I mounted the sliding brackets on the drawers. I don't know if this is what they're actually called but it sounds good, doesn't it?

Here Daddy is demonstrating how to use the drill. Fascinating, Daddy!

Out of my way, Daddy. I can do this myself...

Daddy, here is the correct screw. I believe you need the 1 7/16" flathead wood screw?

Observe Daddy's mouth. This is what Daddy does when he is concentrating real hard...

...I learned this from Daddy.

Mommy, will you please make yourself useful and go get us some juice? This is hard work. We're thirsty!

I will post pictures of Baby's room when it's done!

Love,

Lilly

Uh Oh!

I love to say, "Uh oh!" these days. I say it when the phone rings, when the doorbell rings, when I poop in my diaper, etc. Mommy and Daddy will toy with me and call the house phone so it will ring. The house phone met it's untimely demise in the toilet last week and Mommy and Daddy need to buy a new one. Fortunately they got this video before the handset took it's swim. Please excuse the mess in the house, and please don't judge. I like my toys all over the floor, on top of the comforter (on the floor) in the middle of the den. I'm a baby! I like what I like!

Lilly

100 Posts!

This is my 100th post! Isn't that exciting? So much happens in a little bunny's life it's hard to keep up but I do the best I can to keep you all up to date!
This isn't actually a very exciting post but it's so very ME. You all remember how I told you I slipped back down to the 1-3% for my weight again? Well, Mommy decided to take the bull by the horns as they say (as did Daddy) and they are all into "supplementing" my diet. Daddy "supplements" by adding things like whole cream to my milk, oatmeal to my yogurt, etc. Very healthy supplementation. Mommy "supplements" by adding chocolate chips to my pancakes, ice cream to my hot fudge sundae, buttery, sugary sticky to my buns, etc. Mommy's supplements are by no means healthy but I find it balances well with Daddy's supplements. They really do make a good pair, Mommy and Daddy. They are the Yin to the other's Yang.
This past Sunday I helped Mommy stir my chocolate chip pancakes and believe it or not, I had a lot of fun doing it. So Mommy got out the camera and said, "Smile, Lilly! Smile, little Bean!" and this is what she got.
I got chocolate chip pancakes. Mmmm...

Lilly

Come On Over!

Let me give you a little tour of my room. My room is so fun, it is bright blind-you-in-the-eyes purple and I love it! We're still working on some things here and there but mostly it's done. And my room is HUGE! And look at my two huge closets! Perfect for a little girl and my ever expanding wardbrobe. And, do you see that certificate on the wall? That is my share of Walt Disney stock. That's right, I'm a shareholder. I can vote on important shareholder things now, whatever that means. But I will. It's all part of my responsibility as a shareholder. Mickey Mouse answers to ME!
Anyone who knows Mommy at all knows Mommy loves PHISH! So much in fact that she and her BFF from college Kelly are already planning a campout trip to see them in June and leave me and my little sister home with Daddy and whomever comes to help him with a 19-month old and a 2-month old baby. Even though I think Phish is a totally appropriate venue for babies (their songs are fun! the words are silly!) Mommy begs to differ. Mommy's favorite Phish song in college (and still one of her favorite songs today) is called "Sparkle." And in "Sparkle" Phish sings over and over: "Laugh and Laugh and Fall Apart" (hence my wall writing). Well, I love "Sparkle" too. In fact, I discovered it is great fun to play "Sparkle" 100 times in a row with Daddy and twirl and twirl in circles until we fall down. I also fall into my crib, the dresser, etc. Observe:
"Sparkle" makes me happy. It makes Mommy happy too. If you're ever feeling blue, why not download a little "Sparkle" and twirl and twirl until you fall down? Try it, it's fun!

Lilly

I Love My Kitty

Awww...don't I have the sweetest kitty? Look at her, she's helpless in my grip! I'm so glad Mommy got the kitty declawed. She's actually been a lot nicer since she got her claws taken out, and Mommy is happy because she's not ruining all the furniture anymore. More importantly though, she doesn't hurt me! She just lets me hug her and pat her in the face.
Good kitty!

Lilly

Ha Ha Ha - Look Who's NOT Laughing Now

Remember a couple weeks ago when I laughed at Ohio for being cold and having so much snow? Ha ha ha. Real hilarious. Check out my pics. It is a frigid 11 degrees here today. Soooo much warmer than Ohio, I'm sure. I almost feel like I'm in the tropics! And in case you've been hiding under a rock and not watching any news, Kentucky suffered it's worse disaster in "modern history" when a huge ice storm came through last week. Thank goodness we did NOT lose power (unlike when Hurricane Ike came through and we went without power for 5 days) but we did lose some awful big tree limbs and that tacky chain link fence we were going to take down in the spring anyway.

So it is really cold, there is snow and ice everywhere (which is especially fun for Mommy to navigate with her ankle, which is still swollen and still hurts) and that's what I get for laughing!

Love,

Lilly
