The Replacements

Well, Mommy is probably going to wind down the blog until the New Year. I know all my fans are disappointed, but after the New Year there will be plenty to write about and lots of cute pictures to post, I'm sure.

Until then I thought I'd leave you with these pictures. There is one of Mommy and Daddy and their new friends at the Kosair Christmas party. Mommy calls these new friends "The Replacements." Funny thing is, that is what I call my new friend, George. He is my replacement for Mommy. I love him sooooo much I even got monkey jammies. Who needs Mommy?

Merry Christmas! Happy Hannakuh! Happy New Year! I hope 2009 brings us many blessings and out of the recession.

Love,
Lilly

Going to See Santa!

I went to see Santa Claus this weekend at the Bass Pro Shop! What an experience this was. First, Santa is free at the Bass Pro Shop which is good, considering I'm 13 months old and what are the chances of Mommy and Daddy getting a good picture of me on Santa's lap? Do you want to guess? Do you know me at all? Second, they had a BIG playland set up for all the little kids! What fun! I got to sit in a camp chair by a pint-sized tent while I waited in line, if I were older I could have participated in crafts (make your own reindeer antlers!) and if I were a redneck I could have even shot the reindeer at the "Shoot the Reindeer" booth! If you think I'm kidding then you're forgetting where I live!
You will have to wait to see my pictures with Santa. Mommy is using them for the Christmas cards. Add that to the list of things Mommy is behind on. You would think Mommy had a million other things to do or something! Oh well, that's what makes the holidays fun! The craziness!

I Like Chocolate...

Yummy, chocolate. Eating it made me tired, though, so I had to lay down afterwards and take a little nap.
Not much else to say!

A Penny Saved...

Last weekend my Papa gave me some money! Mommy and Daddy showed me what I'm supposed to do with it. I'm supposed to put it in my piggy bank! It is a much safer bet than the stock market right now. I got a huge tin full of quarters that Papa won at the casino. I put them all into my piggy bank...one by one...by one...by one... It was a very long process but so much fun! I don't know how to get my piggy bank open. Mommy says when the piggy gets full we'll take him to the bank and then put the money in my bank account so I can use it when I'm all grown up! But I'm not allowed to touch it again! Go figure that! That doesn't seem fair, does it? I mean, I really want those designer baby shoes!
DADDY! BUY ME THOSE SHOES!
Daddy says, 'Okay, Lilly.'
Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? With my Daddy, I eat cake every day.
Love,
Lilly

Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm going to be a BIG SISTER to a LITTLE SISTER!
I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for not having to share my stuff yet. Next year I will be thankful I will have a little sister I can blame everything on.
I will be back next week!

Nature Girl

Hey folks! Did ya miss me? I missed you all! I've been soooo busy! I am walking everywhere now, singing songs, using words like "cookie" and "get out of my face, Mom." Okay, I'm not speaking in sentences yet but I communicate by throwing things like my pacifier and little baby temper tantrums. I have got Mommy and Daddy well trained!
Not much has been going on this month, otherwise. Mommy has been real busy at work and Daddy was on vacation for the first two weeks of November. It was a glorious two weeks. He got me ready, he fed me in the morning, he let me get messy and then he would scoot me all around the house in my moving box, which is my latest favorite toy. We even went on a nature hike together and I threw rocks in the creek. I am such a Daddy's girl. I am going to miss him now that he has to go back to work!

I hope everyone is getting ready for the holidays! Santa has already dropped a couple big presents off at my house. They are in the basement storage room waiting for Christmas day. Mommy loves to Christmas shop! She loves the crowds, the traffic, the hassle, the stupid deals! I can't wait to help Mommy Christmas shop by contributing a temper tantrum in the store to the holiday spirit! It wouldn't be holiday shopping without a screaming baby! Ha ha ha, Mommy!

Lilly

Day at the Races!

Mommy grew up going to the racetrack with Babi and Papa. Every summer they would take her and my Uncle Dan, and they would get to make $2 bets on a few races. Babi and Papa taught them the fine art of choosing winners: go with your gut, pick the horse with the cutest name or the one most like yours, and always bet on gray. That advice paid off for Mommy on Saturday when she won $58.60 for an exacta: one horse who's name she liked, and a long-shot gray.

We took my Maurer family to the racetrack. We all had fun. There were no big losers except for Uncle Matt but he's a big winner at the casinos so we don't feel too sorry for him. He needed to get in some good practice before he comes back out in May for the Derby. He needs some more. Uncle Matt, Turfway opens for racing in December. Practice, practice, practice!

I helped Mommy pick a few winners, but Mommy got greedy and kept betting exactas. So she would have 1 winner and 1 loser, and this ain't horse shoes people! We went home with $40 of the $58.60 we won, and I got $20 for my piggy bank, for helping Mommy out. Grampa was the other big winner of the day, he won lots of his bets. After the races he and Grammy treated us to pizza, the gourmet kind! Winning is fun!

We have been enjoying beautiful weather here in lovely Kentucky. Saturday was no exception. We sat inside so I could run around and impress perfect strangers with my cuteness. But the best part of the day was when we would all go out on the balcony and cheer for our horses. I am excited to grow up at the races, just like Mommy.

Lilly

Halloween Bust!

Halloween 2008 was a bust for me. I have been sick for 2 weeks now, and I wasn't feeling any better on Friday. I fell asleep at 7:00! Right when Trick or Treating started! Lucky for me I didn't even know that Mommy and Daddy LOST my costume! What kind of parents LOSE their child's costume?! Mine! Mine do! They are lucky I am not 2 or 3 or 4 years old and lost my costume. Can you imagine? The horror! And I'm not talking Halloween horror! I am talking mortified in front of all my friends horror when they are all dressed up like cute little farm animals and Mommy wraps me up in toilet paper and calls me a Mummy!

In the spirit of Halloween however we did actually carve pumpkins. At least Mommy and Daddy did something right. I enjoyed pumpkin carving. I quite enjoyed putting things inside the pumpkins once they were hollowed out for me. I also enjoyed putting my face in them.

So I hope you enjoy the pictures! We did lots of fun stuff this weekend so check back often, except don't check back tomorrow. Mommy is going to be very busy waiting in line to vote, and I hope you all vote, too!

Lilly

Pumpkin Patch...A Continuation

Mommy realizes last week we went a little skinny on the blog. This is because I have been SO SICK for the past week. Have you heard of the Boogie Monster? I AM the Boogie Monster! I went to the Dr. 3 times this past week! They don't know what is wrong, they just keep saying "upper respiratory infection." Whatever you call it, it's the pits! Today is my first day back at Miss Norma's in almost a week! I miss my friends, and they all have coughs and boogies too. I guess it's the season for coughs and boogies.

Since we didn't have a lot to post Mommy wanted to put up some more pictures from the pumpkin patch. There was a petting zoo there, and a little pony just my size! I liked to stand next to the pony and touch her, but I did not - absolutely did NOT - want to ride her. Mommy lost a bet with Daddy because of this. You're welcome, Daddy.

Love,
Lilly

Get Ya Some Pumpkins!

We got to go to the pumpkin patch this weekend. Daddy told me I could pick out whatever pumpkin I wanted just so long as I could carry it myself.

Daddy, I would like THIS pumpkin, please.

Daddy gave me the okay, this is my pumpkin.

You may notice my cute little skirt? This is my Tennessee Titans cheerleading outfit. Oh, it is CUTE! Babi and Duda got it for me. In the KY Maurer household we're more college football fans. Mommy and Daddy discussed it this weekend, and we collectively decided we will become Tennessee Titans fans. Why? Why not? They are undefeated so unlike Mommy and Daddy's favorite college teams (Michigan and Notre Dame, respectively) they don't suck and it will be a nice change to cheer for a team that doesn't lose most or all of the time. It will also be a nice change to cheer for a team we can all mutually agree on. So, GO TITANS!

Love,

Lilly

It's My Party and I'll Fuss, Whine, Moan and Cry If I Want To...

Last weekend Mommy and Daddy had a birthday party for me. Let's get something straight: I don't like new things, I don't like a crowd, and I don't like anyone outside of my Fab 5 trying to hold me (that Fab 5 being Mommy, Daddy, Miss Norma, Miss Marva and Teti). What did my party have? Lots of activity, lots of people and all of them wanting to hold me. Wah.
But it was not all that bad. Since the kitchen is being remodeled Mommy had to order me a cake. This is probably a good thing. My cake was rockin', as in rockin' Noah's Ark! I did not eat it though, I just took the toys off one by one. I like to organize things. I'm organizational. I get this from Mommy. I do not like cake. I do not get this from Mommy.
My new friends came, we did not interact much because most of my new friends are about my age and at 1 year old we're still a little anti-social. They brought me beautiful gifts though, gifts I did not open because I was not interested. Mommy however, was very interested and opened them for me. After they were opened, I quite enjoyed playing with them as you can see.
Overall it was not a bad party. I was just not in a party kind of mood. I definitely don't get that from Mommy or Daddy. But we all have our days. Nonetheless Mommy did get some cute pics which she has posted for your viewing pleasure.
Thank you to everyone who came to my party! I might not have shown it, but it was really special and it meant a lot to me and especially to Mommy and Daddy that you could all make it!
Love,
Lilly
